Owen Edwards reports on the weekend action and results for St Neots Hockey Club.
St Neots Women’s 1s backed up their first win of the season with a hard fought 1-1 draw against Cambridge City 4s.
City, who had started the season with two wins, took the lead midway through the first half from a penalty corner.
Saints worked hard to keep in the game and started to create goal scoring opportunities.
They had to wait until the second half when Caroline Osbourne scored the equaliser.
The Women’s 2s continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-1 draw against Cambridge South 4s.
Like the 1s, they had to come from a goal down, with Vanessa Wilson scoring the equaliser.
The Women’s 3s lost for the first time this season, after being beaten 2-0 to Long Sutton 2s, while the 4s were beaten 10-0 to table topping Cambridge City 7s.
The Men’s 1s also suffered a heavy defeat, losing 7-1 away to league leaders Bourne Deeping 1s.
The hosts scored inside the first minute and dominated from then on.
A 5-0 lead at half time all but confirmed the win for Bourne, but Saints did pull a goal back in the second half when Phil McMorris dispatched a penalty flick.
The Men’s 2s remain unbeaten following a 0-0 draw with Cambridge Uni 4s.
The Men’s 3s are third in their league despite losing for the first time this season.
