St Ives Town Football Club is preparing for FA Cup action on Saturday as they welcome Kettering Town to their Quattro-Tech Westwood Road Stadium for a third qualifying round tie.

With the visitors in the same division, the match promises to be a keenly fought contest with the prize of a place in the fourth and final qualifying round up for grabs.

Ives will go into the game on the back of a 3-2 away league victory at Bromsgrove Sporting last Saturday. Despite conceding an early goal and going 2-1 down the Ives stole it late on when new signing Amaru Kaunda grabbed the winner.

Progress in the FA Cup for the Ives has seen them navigate past Harpenden in the first qualifying round, although they were taken to a replay against their South Midlands League opponents. Then in the second qualifying round they recorded a comfortable 5-0 victory over Berkhamsted.

A cup run is massive for clubs in non-league and on Saturday the Ives will be hoping for a big 'pay day' if they win the match.

Club chairman Paul Reason said: “We experienced an epic cup run two years ago when we got so close to the first-round proper, when we made it to the fourth qualifying round for the first time only to lose to Halifax.

"We had a huge crowd for that game, and we know that Kettering are going to be backed by a massive band of travelling fans, so we want the Ives supporters to come out in their numbers as we bid to get to the fourth qualifying round for only the second time in our history."

Admission prices are £11 for adults and £8 for concessions and you can choose to pay on the door or get tickets in advance. If you wish to buy online in advance, then more details can be found via the Ives website: www.stivestownfc.co.uk. Kick-off on Saturday at the Quattro-Tech Westwood Road is at 3pm.
