First Team Match Report UCL Premier Division South: Daventry Town v Eynesbury Rovers on Saturday, August 10.
Eynesbury Rovers suffered a 5-1 loss at Daventry despite holding the hosts to a 1-1 draw at the break. Victor Osobu equalised after the hosts had taken an early lead but the game ran away from Rovers in the second half.
Two players made their Rovers' debuts with Leon Fulianty and Matthew Hill replacing Howard-Dobson and Brookes respectively.
Daventry took an early lead courtesy of a generous deflection from Dylan Wilson's shot on seven minutes after the forward had rounded the keeper.
Fifteen minutes later, it could have been two when Wilson, presented with an open goal had striker Sam Lockley square the ball.
A lively first half saw the visitors equalise on the half hour mark with a goal from Victor Osobu who fired past keeper Lewi Patching.
Daventry could have gone 2-1 up just before half time as George Mitchell-Gears spurned an opportunity when one on one with the keeper.
The second half was even up until the hour mark until Dodzi Agbenu made a forceful run through midfield before passing wide.
The cross in to the box was deflected into the air and looped over the keeper with Dylan Wilson claiming a second, although the dubious goals panel will need to meet for that.
It was 3-1 just a couple of minutes later. Substitute David Gbehe dinking the ball past the keeper at close range.
The fourth goal came on 65 minutes when Cosmin Capatina put a lovely cross in for Wilson to claim his third of the game.
The fifth goal came from a penalty courtesy of captain Luke Knight who shot low and hard to the keeper's right. The penalty had been awarded for a handball in the box.
Next up for Eynesbury is a local derby on Saturday, August 17, when Godmanchester Rovers visit Hall Road for a league fixture. Kick off 3pm.
