Eynesbury Rovers First Team Report on Tuesday, July 30, UCL Premier Division South: Yaxley 1 - Eynesbury Rovers 2.
A Victor Osobu double late in the game gave Rovers a deserved victory as they came from behind to win at Yaxley.
Trailing 1-0 to a first half goal that came against the run of play, Eynesbury were temporarily reduced to 10 men in the 83rd minute when was Jonny Hall sin-binned.
However, that didn’t stop Rovers from hitting an 86th minute equaliser when Jamal Batchilly's shot was not held by the goalkeeper and Osobu stabbed home the loose ball.
Then in the 90th minute Osobu was sent clear and he coolly slotted the ball past Quincy Shorunmu for the visitor’s first three points of the season.
There was further drama though when Nathan Mullings, who had been substituted earlier, came on the pitch to celebrate and was shown a second yellow card!
After a first minute scare, when a Yaxley close range shot was held by Reece Lewis, Eynesbury went on to dominate possession playing a high pressing game which forced Yaxley into making errors.
Ryan Lewis had a shot from the edge of the penalty area tipped over by Shorunmu and Mullings cut in from the right flank but fired wide.
Osobu beat two defenders as he cut inside and laid the ball back for Marcel Rzeszutek but his low first time shot went wide of the far post.
Mullings was also off target with another effort before Yaxley took a 29th minute lead. Matt Harris-Hercules was sent through the centre and he slotted the ball home.
After the break Rovers continued to dominate. A counter attack finished with Rzeszutek shooting wide and on another occasion Osobu raced down the right wing and fired in a shot which everyone thought was saved by the goalkeeper apart from the match officials who gave a goal kick.
In the 75th minute, Reece Lewis got down low to save a Harris-Hercules free kick to keep Eynesbury in the game. Jordan Stevenson, making his debut, and Ryan Lewis threatened for Eynesbury before the games’ exciting conclusion.
