A Huntingdonshire disabled golfer has been selected to represent England in an upcoming international championship, which he describes as "an honour".
Philip Meadows, who hails from Fenstanton, will take part in the European Team Championship and European Nations Cup for Golfers with Disability all the way in Dusseldorf, Germany - much more than a golf swing away from Huntingdon.
Phil, 53, was involved in a motorbike accident in 1987 which left him paralysed from the waist down. Over the years he tried to get into several different sports but he couldn't find one that he gelled with, until he took up golf in 1991.
Since then, Philip has competed in golf competitions up and down the country. He then joined the European Disabled Golf Association and began playing competitively with them.
He's also the Secretary for the Great Britain and Northern Ireland Handigolf Association.

Philip will now join other disabled golfers to represent England in the European Team Championship. It's his first time representing his country at an international event.
He'll be playing at the Golf Course Hosel in Germany from July 18-20.
The golfer usually plays for his club, The Cambridgeshire Golf Club, but on now playing for his country, Philip said he is "over the moon".
He told The Hunts Post: "I am absolutely over the moon to be selected to play for England in The European Championship and Nations Cup with my fellow teammates.
"I've worked so hard over the last 18-24 months on my game, and it just goes to prove with hard work and determination it pays off. I secured my second runner up place last week at the English Open, and I'm currently ranked the UK Number One Seated Player in my category.
"I can't wait to travel to Germany and give it my all, and hopefully we'll bring home the silverware."
