Huntingdon Boat Club attended its first head race of the year at Northampton on January 20.
This was a timed event rowed over 1,650 metres on the River Nene, with crews in each division.
The day started out bitterly cold and windy and the first division was delayed so ice could be cleared away from the course.
The club took 16 crews made up of seniors and juniors, and came away with seven wins.
Toby Ray won his J18 single scull category, then teamed up with Ivia Pigg to win open mixed double sculls.
Daniel Grant and Tom Hancock won their J15 double sculls, both then raced in single sculls with Grant winning J15 single sculls against a Northampton sculler.
Charlie Eastoe and James Johnson-Keay were victorious in J13 double sculls against Thames scullers.
The seniors were not going to let the juniors have all the glory, Iain Rickerby, Mark Smith, Edward Adams, Luke Bacon, Alice Ray, Louise Bocking, Rebecca Howard, Rachel Starling cox Ollie Shepherd won the masters mixed eight’s event in a time of six minutes, 48 seconds. Adams also won in a masters single scull.
