Two of the St Neots Hockey Club sides chalked up wins this weekend, writes Owen Edwards.
St Neots Men’s 1s returned to winning ways at home with a narrow 4-3 win against Cambridge City 3s.
The visitors took the lead after 10 minutes and doubled their lead five minutes later through a deflected short corner.
Saints started to create more chances and finally converted one when Phil McMorris fired in a reverse hit from the top of the D.
As the half was coming to a close, Saints found an equaliser when Mike Hornby finished off a scrappy short corner.
Two breakaway goals gave Saints the lead in the second half.
First McMorris scored his second before he became provider intercepting a back pass and whose ball across was finally slotted in by David Martin.
A late consolation goal from City made for an exciting finish, but Saints held on for all three points and return to third in the league.
The 2s continued their good run of form beating March Town 2s 3-1 away.
James Findlay, Joshua Gardner and Jack Percival scored the goals.
The Men’s 3s lost 3-0 to Cambridge University 4s, while the 4s beat City of Peterborough 8s 1-0, thanks to a Mark Harrison goal.
The Women’s 1s returned to the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Cambridge South 2s.
Ella Roberts scored the goal in the top of the table clash, which ensures their unbeaten run continues.
The 2s lost 4-0 away to St Ives 1s in their hunt for their first points of the season.
The 3s picked up an impressive 2-1 win against Spalding 3s, with goals coming from Esther Cove and Elizabeth Russel.
The 4s lost 4-1 to Newmarket 3s, Lucia Benbow with the goal.
