In front of a crowd of 810 people, St Neots produced a performance to be proud of against visitors Stevenage who are playing in Division One of the English Football League (EFL) following their promotion at the end of last season.
The six levels in the status of the two clubs didn't show as the home side defended resolutely for the final hour without conceding a goal during their 2-0 pre-season friendly defeat.
A strong start had given the visitors an early two goals advantage, but despite utilising much of their Football League squad, they could not break through a determinedly stubborn St Neots defence.

With most of his squad on show, Saints Manager Cameron Mawer was delighted with his side's dogged performance as he continues to build his team from scratch.

The visitors were up for the scrap right from the start, and they did take the lead after five minutes in only their second serious attack through Carl Piergiani before they added to their tally again on 30 minutes.
Understandably the visitors were enjoying the lion's share of possession, with St Neots keeper James Goff making several good saves.
Whilst St Neots seldom threatened the visiting goal, they continued to compete well against high-calibre opposition in what is hoped will be a sign of things to come.
