It was another difficult road trip for St Ives Rugby Club, who were consigned to a third straight loss after a rampant Oakham side ran in 10 tries to defeat the Bulls 61-12.
Despite competing well in the first and last quarter, A high turnover count gifted Oakham possession and led to eight of their 10 tries in another heavy away defeat.
After going in at half-time 30 points down, things didn't get much better for the Bulls in the second period when they conceded a hattrick of tries early on.
Playing for pride, the Bulls avoided a whitewash when John Paxton crashed over after a series of drives, with Mitch Newman adding the extras, followed by the indefatigable Ollie Bartlett scoring the second try either side of two other Oakham scores.
Coach Paul Humphreys was not too despondent after the match and said: "We failed to secure the ball, and any we did get was scrappy, and we ended up playing off the back foot with little cohesion.
Well played @OakhamRFC who turned in a five-star performance and beat us comprehensively.. we stuck at it to cross twice, but it was ultimately another disappointing road trip.#rollonnextweek pic.twitter.com/faXl76z6Sv

"Our basics let us down, and Oakham managed to turn us over at will."
Next up for St Ives, sitting 11th out of the 12 teams in the league, is a home match against seventh-placed Bugbrooke on February 11.
