Defensive lapses and poor tackling cost St Ives dearly against a rampant Long Buckby side in a punishing 39-25 defeat.
The uncharacteristic tackling meant spectators were treated to a 10-try try-fest, but St Ives were on the wrong end of a topsy-turvy game and walked away without a point to show for their efforts.
Buckby took the lead from the off following a missed tackle on the halfway line, and although the Bulls hit back through Man of the Match Matt Woods, Buckby scored two tries soon after.
Paul Ashbridge converted two penalties to make it 17-11 at halftime, keeping the Bulls within touching distance.
However, Buckby grew in confidence as the second half went on, and St Ives couldn't repel or thwart their attacks which eventually resulted in four tries.
Despite St Ives redoubling their efforts to get something from the game, they fell short of a fourth try and bonus point consolation.
Everyone at the club is devastated to hear the dreadfully sad news that Doddie Weir has died. What he has achieved in raising awareness for MND is astonishing.

Coach Paul Humphreys said: “This was a game in which we never got going.
"Lots of ifs and buts, too many missed tackles and inaccurate play which cost us dearly."
