Hundreds of new jobs could be created at a proposed new business park on the edge of St Ives, developers have said.
Plans have been put forward to build the business park on a field off Somersham Road.
The developer, Barnack Estates, said its plans to create Trinity Business Park will provide a “major boost to the local economy” and create hundreds of new jobs.
The business park is proposed to provide 13,350sqm of commercial floorspace, split over eight plots.
A range of uses for the new buildings are proposed including general offices, research and development, light industrial, general industrial, and storage and distribution.
In the planning application submitted to Huntingdonshire District Council, the developer said: “This would be a high quality business park.
“It would have a carefully designed landscaped frontage, which would wrap around the development, enhancing the character of Somersham Road, and complementing that of the landscape-led Compass Point Business Park to the south.
“By providing an attractive environment for business, on a high quality services site, in the right location, Barnack Estates envisage that Trinity Business Park will be popular with a range of businesses, and that it will enable many local and regional companies to thrive and grow over time.”
The district council approved a previous application back in 2022 to build a smaller business park with up to 8,400sqm of floorspace on the site.
However, the developer said these plans were no longer financially viable.
They also claimed building a bigger business park would make “more efficient use of the land”.
