Schools across Cambridgeshire could win new sport equipment - and even receive a visit from an Olympic athlete - as this newspaper launches a new promotion.
The campaign, called Sports Equipment for Schools, kicks off this week, with tokens printed in our paper and the first appearing on Wednesday October 2 (Hunts Post) and Thursday October 3 (Ely Standard).
The promotion will then run for 10 weeks until the final tokens on week commencing December 9.
The printed paper will have a single token each week.
Regular token bonanzas will also take place throughout the campaign with bonus tokens for schools to collect.
Debbie Davies, editor, said: "This is a great opportunity to spark a passion for sport in our youngsters that might well last a life time.
"Get collecting and let's get loads of great equipment into our schools."
Winners will be determined based on the average number of tokens collected per pupil, meaning all schools have an equal chance of winning regardless of how many pupils they have.
The main winners will receive primary athletics kits, along with the Olympian visit, worth more than £1,300.
Among other items, the kits will contain long jumps, footballs, foam javelins, balance beams and stopwatches.
All schools which collect at least 1,000 tokens will receive a throw pack worth £250 containing: Throws PAK Bag, foam javelin, primary discuses, primary shots, primary hammers and medicine balls.
There will also be an infant version of this available for the schools with younger children.
And there will be a second-place prize of a triathlon kit worth more than £900.
The prizes are being provided by Cambridge-based company Great Athletes, a social enterprise aiming to inspire children to lead more active, resilient and healthy lives.
Michael Ledzion, CEO, said: "Great Athletes are delighted to be helping schools across Cambridgeshire get access to additional sports equipment through this brilliant promotion."
Schools must register to be eligible for prizes.
