Dramatic pictures show the devastating aftermath of a fire that ripped through a building at Fenstanton services.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze on the A1307 at Fenstanton yesterday (August 27) at around 5.30pm.
The roof of the former Burger King restaurant had collapsed with guests and staff at the neighbouring Travelodge hotel advised to keep windows and doors shut.
The fire was extinguished by 8.30pm but crews remained for another hour.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service: "Around 25 firefighters from Cambridge, Cottenham, Gamlingay, Ramsey and Huntingdon were called to a building fire at the old Burger King building on the A1307 at Fenstanton.
"Crews arrived to find the building well alight with the roof collapsed, and tackled the fire using hose reels, an aerial appliance and a water carrier.
"By 8.30pm crews were dampening down hot spots and returned to their stations just before 10pm. Crews were returning overnight and into the morning to reinspect.
"There were no reported casualties. A fire investigation will be carried out today (August 28) to establish the likely cause."
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police added: "We were called at about 5.30pm yesterday with reports of a building fire near to the Shell garage on the A1307 at Fenstanton.
"Officers and the fire service attended. An investigation into the fire is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact police online or via 101 quoting incident 403 of 27 August."
