An inquest has been opened into the death of a driver who was involved in a multiple-vehicle collision on the A428 in Cambridgeshire.
The incident happened on August 12 near the village of Eltisley.
Ian Burgess, 64, who was driving a van, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge but died the following morning.
An HGV driver who was also involved, a 53-year-old man from Doncaster, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Police say he has now been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Mr Burgess’ inquest opening was held at Lawrence Court, in Huntingdon, on Thursday (August 22).
Caroline Jones, an area coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, said: “In the circumstances where a police investigation remains ongoing, this matter is to be opened and then suspended pending the outcome of [their] investigation and any potential criminal proceedings.
“As a consequence of which, this matter now stands adjourned for a date to be fixed and heard before [my colleague] Mr Milburn.
“I extend my condolences to the family of Mr Ian Burgess.”
