Police and crime commissioner Darryl Preston has announced the appointment of a new interim chief executive.

Jack Hudson was appointed at a formal review hearing held by Police and Crime Panel members on Thursday August 15 following the retirement of the previous CEO, Jim Haylett, at the end of July 2024.

With over 35 years in policing and leadership roles, Jack has experience in policing at an operational and strategic level.

This includes managing and supporting organisations to change through collaboration.

Before this, Jack headed up business development within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough OPCC as director for governance and compliance.

The police and crime commissioner's office said: "Panel members were satisfied that Jack has the skills, knowledge and experience to be successful in the role and demonstrated his ability to provide effective leadership, strategic direction and advice to the Commissioner.

Darryl said: “Jack is ideally suited to undertake the role of interim chief executive officer, having many years of policing experience at a senior level behind him as well as managing governance for my office from 2021.

“As we develop a new Police and Crime Plan for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, following the recent police and crime commissioner elections, I am confident that Jack has the skills to both lead and maintain stability within my office.”
