A man who was involved in a head-on collision that killed a Swavesey couple on the A1307 has been found guilty of death by dangerous driving.
Tony Wilson and his wife Susie, both 80, were on their way home from the supermarket when a BMW M3 travelling on the wrong side of the road hit them head-on.
The great-grandparents both died at the scene of the incident which happened near Lolworth on the afternoon of July 23, 2022.
Zahid Majid, 37, the BMW driver, has now been convicted of dangerous driving following a four-day trial at Cambridge Crown Court.
He has now been remanded in custody until October 30 when he is due to return to court for sentencing.
Majid’s address is listed as High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
After the verdict, the Wilson family released a statement through their lawyer Katrina Elsey, from Switalskis Solicitors.

The statement, on behalf of Mr and Mrs Wilson’s son, also named Tony, said: “We had hoped this trial would bring some measure of closure as we sought justice for the tragic loss of our much-loved parents, grandparents and great granny and grandad.
“The court’s decision has gone some way towards giving us this, but it doesn’t alter the fact that this man’s driving wiped out a generation of our family.
“The impact of losing both parents, out of the blue, has been immense.
“Two years on, and there is not a day goes by when I don’t think of them or reach for the phone to call them.
“There was still so much to say that can now never be said, and we will forever mourn their loss.”
