A fundraiser has been launched to support a “dedicated” Huntingdon taxi driver and “beloved” dad and grandad who may never be able to walk again following a collision.
Ricky Harold, who has worked in the town for more than 20 years, was parked in a lay-by on Friday morning (August 2) waiting for his next booking when a black Audi A2 struck the back of his black Mercedes C350 at around 12.45am, reportedly pushing him 20 meters up the road.
The driver of the Audi, a 23-year-old man from Peterborough, was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving.
Mr Harold's family has since set up a GoFundMe page - which has already raised £765 - on which daughter Ashleigh writes that the “impact was devastating.

“Emergency services had to cut our dad from the wreckage, and he is currently in the hospital undergoing surgery for a broken spine.
“Doctors have informed us that he has a mere one per cent chance of walking again.
“This tragic event has turned our world upside down.
“Our dad is the heart and soul of our family, always putting others before himself.
“Now, he faces a long and uncertain road to recovery.”
The family is aiming to raise £3,000 to help cover his immediate financial commitments, allowing him to focus solely on his recovery in the coming weeks, months, and possibly years.
They say that these funds will be used for covering essential living expenses while he is unable to work and any additional support he might need during his recovery.
“Your support, whether through donations or sharing this page, will make a significant difference in our dad's life,” Ashleigh added.
“Every little bit helps, and we are deeply grateful for any assistance you can provide.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and kindness during this incredibly challenging time.”
