A 90-year-old care home resident in Huntingdonshire spent the day cooking recipes from her childhood with her own great grandchildren.

Ann James, who lives at Field Lodge Care Home on London Road, St Ives, took part in a nationwide scheme to save recipes passed down through families.

Her and her grandchildren rolled up their sleeves and put on their aprons to bake a Caraway Seed Cake, something that Ann's mother used to bake her as a child.

Ann said: "I don't remember liking it very much as a child but having not tried it for so long - this time it was light and fluffy!" It got the seal of approval from both of Ann's grandchildren as well.

The scheme is being ran by Care UK, who operate Field Lodge, in a bid to help care home residents across the country remember recipes from their childhood. 

The care provider has launched a cookbook, called Recipes to Remember, with recipes from residents all over the UK.

Linda Martinez, Home Manager at Field Lodge, said: "We've loved hearing all about the residents' favourite recipes from their time growing up and through the different decades.

"They've certainly given the team food for thought."
