We asked St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire Election candidates what they thought about the current state of the NHS.
Here, the Green Party's candidate Kathryn Fisher gave us her thoughts.
"It has never been in the Conservative’s interest to have a thriving NHS. This is because a functioning NHS requires money to flow into a healthy nation rather than into private pockets.
You just have to look at the increasing numbers of homeless people and food bank users to understand that the Tories have no interest in taking care of those with less.
They will do the same thing to the NHS that they did with social housing in the 1970s; create one service for the rich (private healthcare) and one broken service for the poor (our NHS).
In the Green Party, we know that people cannot simply work their way out of poverty and that in order to reduce inequality, we must invest in public services, especially our NHS.
We would pay an additional £8 billion into the NHS in England for the first year of parliament, rising to £30 billion by 2030.
This would cut waiting lists, guarantee rapid access to a GP and give NHS staff a pay rise.
Tens of billions of pounds have been sucked out of the NHS due to privatisation.
The Green Party will fight to return our NHS back into public hands.
The Hunts Post would like to point out that due to an administrative error Kathryn Fisher was missed out on the list for St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire candidate responses to questions on the NHS.
