A care home resident has had a trip of a lifetime after he fulfilled his lifelong dream at RAF Hendon.

Fred Dawson, who is a resident at Henbrook House in St Neots, is a lifelong enthusiast for World War Two aircraft.

Sadly, Fred suffers with a visual impairment caused by macular degeneration which means that he struggles to see the pictures in his much-loved war books.

Staff at Henbrook House decided to bring the images in Fred's books alive, and they took him to the RAF Museum in Hendon.

Several of his friends joined him on the special trip, where they got to see some of their favourite military memorabilia up close.

Brian Moore, events manager at Henbrook House who attended the trip, said: "The trip to Hendon was such a lovely day out with Fred and the gang.

"These kinds of visits not only boost morale, but they also help residents step out of their comfort zones by rediscovering old passions."
