St Ives has been chosen to represent Anglia in the large town category of the 60th annual nationwide ‘Britain in Bloom’ competition.
This means that, as well as the usual Anglia in Bloom visit during July, the judges from Britain in Bloom will come during August to see what the town has achieved.
They will be looking at three main areas: horticulture, environment and community.
As part of the celebrations, St Ives in Bloom is inviting everybody to a free ‘gardening for wildlife’ event.
'Greener plants for a greener world' will be held in the Methodist Church on The Waits in St Ives on Saturday April 6 from 10am until 3pm.
The Wildlife Trust, the Hill Rise Allotment Association, the EcoFaith group and St Ives EcoAction have joined together with St Ives in Bloom and Cranbrook Plant Nursery to explain and encourage the best way to garden to create both a beautiful display and the perfect habitat for wildlife to thrive.
