A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said that the new station is set to be a "modern, sustainable workspace that will make the lives of officers and staff better.
"It will also help the force meet the needs of the ever-growing population, enable the force to respond to calls for service more efficiently and better respond to the challenges of modern-day policing."
Chief Constable Dean said at the site: “I visited the site this morning alongside the Police and Crime Commissioner to celebrate the progress of works to complete the foundations of the new police station in Milton.
“I know it’s been a long time coming for many of you who will be reading this, it’s been talked about for a huge number of years but we’re now on site, we’ve started the construction and hopefully by the end of 2025 we will have a brand-new facility here in Cambridgeshire.”
Cambridgeshire Police have said previously that the current station, at Parkside, is "beyond its functional age".
The new station in Milton is said double cell provisions, as well as make space for around 400 officers to operate.
