A cannabis grower has been jailed after members of the public alerted police to a suspected cannabis factory in a Huntingdon property.
Viktor Sokolaj, 27, from Cambridge, was caught out by Cambridgeshire Police on November 27, 2023.
The force acted on their own intelligence as well as information from members of the public, when they visited the Huntingdon property on Surrey Road.
Cambridgeshire Police discovered five rooms in the property which contained cannabis plants.
In total, there were 136 cannabis plants inside the property.
Sokolaj was arrested at the scene. He also admitted to being concerned in the production of cannabis.
Sokolaj, of Arbury Road, Cambridge, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court on January 16, 2023. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
Detective Constable Lauren Skinner, who investigated the case, said: "Thanks to information received and our own investigation, we were able to shut down this cannabis factory.
"We can't be everywhere and we rely on people in communities being our eyes and ears. If you suspect something isn't right, it more than likely isn't."
Cambridgeshire Police have encouraged members of the public to look out for signs of illegal cannabis factories, including blacked out windows and people coming and going throughout the day.
