Police Dog Vinnie and his handler caught the "opportunistic burglar" who attempted to take charity tins from the tills, among other items.
Ricky Homer, 36, of no fixed address, broke into Dobbies Garden Centre in Wyton on October 23, 2023 just after 10pm.
However, unknown to Homer, he was being watched on the Dobbies Garden Centre security cameras while he attempted to steal items.
Homer was caught on the cameras taking charity tins from the tills and filling trolleys with goods from the popular garden centre.
Cambridgeshire Police were alerted to the burglary, and worked with the CCTV operatives to enter the garden centre and locate Homer.
Once Police Dog Vinnie and his handler located Homer in Dobbies Garden Centre, they chased Homer through the store.
Video footage of Homer's arrest sees the criminal running away from Vinnie, who chased him into the soft play area, where he was arrested.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Friday, January 12, Homer was sentenced to a year in prison after previously pleading guilty to burglary and possession of a Class B drug.
Detective Constable Neil Patrick, who investigated, said: "Homer is an opportunist burglar with a number of crimes under his belt.
"Thanks to partnership working of the alarm company and CCTV operators, the officers at the scene and Police Dog Vinnie, Homer was swiftly arrested and is now behind bars for a year."
