This month, the local NHS in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough has reached a milestone of vaccinating more than 400,000 people against seasonal flu and Covid-19. 

Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are offered to the most vulnerable people, and those who are more likely to pass the viruses onto people at risk.  

Getting vaccinated is still the best way people can reduce the chance of getting these viruses or needing to be hospitalised if they become unwell.  

So far, over 178,000 COVID-19 vaccines and 235,000 flu vaccines have been given to those most at risk. 

Medical director at NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough ICB, Dr Fiona Head, said: “Whilst we’re delighted that so many people have come forward, we want people to know that it’s not too late to have their vaccines. 

“It might feel like you don’t need to get vaccinated again if you’ve had COVID-19 or flu vaccines before, but immunity from vaccines decreases over time, and viruses change, so it’s still really important to have your vaccines when invited.”
