A 47-year-old man died while taking part in an extreme sports activity in Turkey, an inquest hearing has heard.
Dilip Sundhoo, 47, was doing a BASE jump where participants jump from fixed objects, such the edge of cliffs or buildings.
They then release a parachute to descend to the ground – but Mr Sundhoo “crashed into the cliff face”.
Simon Milburn, an area coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, opened an inquest into Mr Sundhoo’s death yesterday (Thursday).
During the brief hearing at Lawrence Court, in Huntingdon, he said: “Mr Sundhoo was attending a festival in Turkey.
“Prior to this opening he took part in an extreme sports activity.
“Sadly, during a BASE jump, he crashed into the cliff face following which his death was confirmed.”
Mr Milburn added: “Investigations are ongoing.”
Mr Sundhoo died on October 21 in Muğla, a city in south western Turkey.
His inquest has been adjourned for a later date to be fixed by the coroner’s office.
