Reader David Lloyd came across this giant hornet while he was carrying out a spot of winter clearing in his garden.
David took the photo at his home in Great Paxton.
"It is absolutely huge, the largest I have ever seen. It measures in at just over 5cm body length. The £1 coin gives some idea of how huge it is," said David.
Hornets have stingers used to kill prey and defend their nests. Their stings are more painful than wasp stings because hornet venom contains a large amount of acetylcholine. They can also sting repeatedly.
