Huntingdon Carnival and Live in the Park saw bright colours, live music and even a flypast!

The weekend event returned this year on August 12/13 and included live broadcasting HCR104fm.

The parade made its way from the Market Square at midday and this year there was no theme, those who took part were asked to dress in bright colours, which many did.

The parade made its way along Princes Street and down past the old fire station and then on to the Riverside Park.

"Every year of the event we have been lucky to have a fly past by the British Memorial Flight, which has included a Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane, this year, we had booked a Hurricane flypast for Saturday and a Spitfire flypast on Sunday, unfortunately the Hurricane broke down and was replaced by a Spitfire," said carnival chairman Bill Hensley.

This year there was also a new feature, with more than 20 classic cars displayed from the Drive For Cancer group which is based in St Ives.

The event also included charity stalls, crafts, arena entertainment, food stalls, a bar, inflatables, dodgems and the biggest number of fair rides to date.

At the Sunday Live in the Park event, there were seven local bands performing from the stage, from midday until 7pm.

“It has been another great success for the carnival this year, and I would like to personally thank Ray Godby and the carnival committee for making it another memorable year," Mr Hensley told The Hunts Post.

He continued: "Also, a big 'thank you' to all the local businesses and charities who have supported us, not forgetting all the volunteer helpers, because without them, the carnival would not take place”.
