Huntingdon residents have expressed their disappointment over the decision to close the Oxmoor Lane Play Area for works at the start of the summer holidays.
Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) announced that the play area will be refurbished and new accessible play equipment added to the site "over the next weeks" whilst it is closed.
Several members of the public questioned why HDC scheduled the works for the holidays, with one person on Facebook calling the decision a "timing blunder".
A spokesperson for HDC explained: "The scheduling of the works has been determined by the availability of the contractors as well as the parts needed to be manufactured."
"The works will take approximately four weeks."

Now that contractors are available, the current equipment in the play area can be refurbished, and additional accessible play equipment can be added.
The new equipment includes a zero-height ground trampoline and an accessible seesaw.
Whilst the play area is out of use, HDC advises that residents access the nearby Coneygear Park and Sallowbush Play Area.
