Huntingdon demonstrated its exceptional floral and environmental achievements during a visit from some esteemed judges.

Representatives from Anglia in Bloom visited the town on July 20 and were given a four-hour tour.

The tour culminated with a visit to the awe-inspiring 3D Flying Scotsman display created by Huntingdon Town Council’s estate services team, before they walked down the High Street to view the summer canopies on Chequers Court and see the hanging baskets and planters in the Market Square.

Building upon last year's success at Anglia in Bloom, where Huntingdon secured Gold in the Large Town category, the campaign has now been nominated for the prestigious national Britain in Bloom Competition.

Britain in Bloom’s judges visited the town on a slightly greyer July 31 and followed the same route. During their visit, they had the opportunity to interact with numerous dedicated volunteers and staff members who contribute their time and effort to make Huntingdon in Bloom possible, including those from Hinchingbrooke Hospital Volunteers, Coneygear Community Garden and Wild about Huntingdon.

Natasha Pierson, Huntingdon in Bloom co-ordinator said: “It has been such an honour for

Huntingdon to represent not only at a regional level, but at a national level too. Huntingdon In Bloom celebrates, promotes, and supports the town’s horticultural offering all year round, as well as our environmental efforts and wonderful community, which is always at the heart of what we do.

"We feel so lucky to have such dedicated and passionate people in Huntingdon who work tirelessly to make a difference, and we hope that the results in September and October reflect everyone’s unswerving efforts.”
