During a rain-affected weekend, Upwood Crickets Club's (CC) Sunday 1st XI managed to defeat Sawtry CC, and details for the club's Returning Legends Day have been revealed.
After the 1st XI's match on July 15 was abandoned due to rain, Upwood's Sunday side comfortably defeated Sawtry by 131 runs on July 16 to maintain their third-place standing in the Rutland League Division 4 West.
Coming in down the order at number seven, Mitchell Newman starred with the bat for Upwood and hit 73 runs as they reached 205 runs with a loss of only six wickets after 40 overs.
Sawtry were unable to chase down the score and were bowled out for 74 runs after 19.1 overs, with the wickets spread evenly amongst the Upwood bowlers.

The CC has also announced the details for its Returning Legends Day on August 20, where all past players of the club are invited back to catch up with old friends.
Upwood CC's social secretary, Caroline Love, said: "We are inviting all past players of the club down to our ground in Huntingdon Road for an afternoon of watching our Sunday team play plus serving them a full traditional cricket tea and a chance to sit and catch up with old friends and share memories."
