The 1st Hemingfords Scout Group have celebrated their 60th anniversary over the last year with a series of events including a trip for over 50 members to BeWiderwood in Norfolk.

Celebrations culminated in a number of fun activities for beavers, cubs and scouts and their parents at Copley Scout Centre in St. Ives on Tuesday June 6.

Everyone enjoyed s’mores, hot dogs and a special anniversary cake.

There have been scouts in the Hemingfords for much longer but there was a break during World War Two and the current scout group was formally registered with Scout HQ in 1962.

Scouting is very popular and a number of children are waiting to join.

The group scout leader, Tony Rogers, said: "If we had more adult volunteers we could offer scouting to more young people.

"We welcome any adults who would like to work with the young people or to assist behind the scenes."
