A school’s art department was delighted to receive an envelope with the royal crest on – and inside was a personal message from King Charles III.
Students at Sawtry Village Academy created artwork commemorating the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II following her passing.
More 50 pieces were submitted for the competition, including drawings, oil paintings and sculpture. There were even collages made from coins and stamps.
Copies of every item were then sent to Buckingham Palace – and His Majesty recently responded outlining his appreciation for their efforts.
It read: “It was so very kind of you to send me a wonderfully generous message following the death of my beloved Mother.
“Your most thoughtful words are enormously comforting, and I cannot tell you how deeply they are appreciated at this time of immense sorrow.”
Kevin Terry, the school’s art lead, said: “We are sure the King will have received hundreds of thousands of cards and letters, and we are touched that he replied to our correspondence.”
Sawtry Village Academy’s art department has webpages where the artwork is displayed.
