A JustGiving page has been launched to raise funds for a medical charity in memory of a father and son who were shot dead at their village homes last month.
The family of Gary Dunmore and his son Josh are fundraising for the Magpas Air Ambulance, which provided medical assistance on March 29 when the incidents took place in Bluntisham and Sutton.
Within two days of its launch, the page raised more than £5,000 from 170 generous donations.
The page will remain open throughout May.
The fundraising target has already been increased multiple times – and it is now hoped a total of £10,000 will be raised for the Huntingdon-based charity.
Explaining why the fundraiser was set up, the page says: “On Wednesday 29th March 2023, Josh and his dad, Gary were wrongly taken from us.
“There are no words that can ever express the heartbreak and devastation that has been caused within the family.
“In memory of Gary and Josh, we are raising money for Magpas - the first responders on the evening.”
Gary, 57, of The Row, Sutton, and Josh, 32, of Meridian Close, Bluntisham, will have a joint funeral on Tuesday (May 2).
A service for family and close friends will take place at 11.15am at Cambridge Crematorium.
The procession will begin at The Cross in Somersham at 10.15am and travel through Colne, Earith and Willingham, arriving at the crematorium at 10.55am.
The wider community will be able to pay their respects and watch a live stream of the service at Bluntisham Baptist Chapel at 11am.
The JustGiving page says: “Afterwards, all are welcome at the Pike and Eel, Needingworth where we’ll be serving tea with custard creams and a hog roast.
“And in true Gary and Josh style, see you at the bar to raise a glass.”
A man has attended court charged in connection with the shootings.
Stephen Alderton, 66, of no fixed abode, has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of possession of a firearm.
