King's Coronation events across Cambridgeshire over the bank holiday

Prince Charles will be crowned King alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort, at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6 at a ceremony conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Reverend Justin Welby

The occasion will be marked with a bank holiday weekend from Saturday May 6-8.

May 5: 

The Octagon Tower at Ely Cathedral will be lit up in red, white, and blue, and bunting will adorn main entrance. Flower exhibit, in the shape of the Coronation emblem, will also be on display.

Quiz at St George’s Church, Littleport. At 9pm outside the church, the National Anthem will be sung by Kathryn Buck and her choir. Sparklers will be lit and prayers said by the Rev Natalie Andrews and St George’s tower will be lit up.

The Oasis Day Centre, in St Michael's Avenue, Wisbech, is welcoming a party of primary school children to a private event to celebrate the coronation as part of the Big Give coronation volunteering. There will be a range of activities planned so both the young and old can get involved together.

May 6:

Screening at Commemoration Hall, Huntingdon. Free event, but book tickets at: www.comhall.org. Open from 10am. Screening on St Neots Market Square with face-painting, balloon modelling and make a crown activites. The event takes place from 10am till 2pm. 

Coronation breakfast and screening on The Green, Eltisley.

Bring-and-Share Picnic 12pm onwards at Buckden Village Club. Watch the coronation on the big screen.

The Vine Community Church, in Littleport, opens at 10am for a screening of the ceremony with a free ploughman’s lunch. Littleport parkrun gathers outside the Littleport Leisure centre for a 9am start, with a red, white and blue theme and cakes afterwards.

The Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club is screening the coronation. There will be hot snacks all day; a bouncy castle and bingo, which is at 7.30pm.

The Crown Inn, in Littleport, will be showing the coronation on television and there will be fun events from midday-7pm. Penalty shoot-out, inflatable darts, Saxy Al entertaining and food from the van. Arianne performs from 8.30pm.

The Swan, at Sandhill Bridge, has live music and a barbecue on the riverside terrace from 4pm until 2am. Coronation gourmet menu until 10pm, last orders 1am.

Live screening of coronation at Ely Cathedral with free refeshments. Coronation Tea Party in the Lady Chapel, but this is a ticket-only event so check for availability.

Screening of coronation at St Andrew's Church, in Witchford. Refreshments will be served in the church from 10.30am till midday 2pm and 4pm.

Coronation Picnic in the Park at Sawtry Village Academy (back field), from 9.30am. Bring a picnic or enjoy the catering and enjoy the live screening. Free. Coronation crown parade, hats and flags, bouncy castle and fireworks.

The White Hart in Warboys is hosting a medieval festival with live viewing of coronation, plus axe throwing, banquet, plus entertainment and activities.

Screening of the coronation at Chatteris Conservative Club. Event is from 11am till 5pm. Tea and coffee and cream scones and cake for £2.50. 

Family Disco at Chatteris Conservative Club, 7.30pm till late. Members are free, non-members £2 and children free. Crown competition. 

King's coronation celebration at the Queen Elizabeth II Playing Field in Little Paxton, from 6pm-8pm. ABBA Inferno tribute band, plus picnic, barbecue and beer tent.

May 7: 

Screening of the concert being held in the grounds of Windsor Castle at the Commemoration Hall, in Huntingdon. Free event, but book tickets at: www.comhall.org. Runs from 7pm till 10pm.

Coronation Party on The Green at Eaton Socon, St Neots. Starts 2pm. Stalls, local band, The Decanters are playing free of charge, Bouncy castle, face paintung.

Service of Thanksgiving for King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Ely Cathedral at 4.30pm, featuring the Cathedral Choir. 

St George’s Church, in Littleport, is hosting 'lunch on the green', and Joanne Coe and her ThePort youth club team will crew the café in the Youth and Community Centre at Cornfield Lane from 2-6pm. At 3pm, there will be a treasure hunt in nearby Peacock’s Meadow, fancy dress competition at 4pm with Millfield School choir and Kathryn Buck singing at 5pm. Winners of the village's best decorated houses, windows, gardens, will bw announced. Board games for the over 60’s in the main room, from 3pm.

Sunday at The Crown, in Littleport, Dan Knight entertains from 3-6pm.

Big Lunch event at Soham Recreation Ground. Open from 12.30pm. Bring a picnic, food and drink available, fancy dress, music and dance and children's activities. Watch a live screning of the Coronation Concert during the evening.

Coronation Celebration Service at the Bottisham Airfield Museum, from 10.30am till 4pm.  Big Lunch with live music on the Dirt Hills, from 12.30pm - 2.30pm with vintage fairground, food, ice cream, cream teas and gin fizz. Afternoon Tea Party at the social club, from 2.30pm till 4.30pm. Barbecue, Morris Dancers and evening entertainment. Event is open to the public. 

Coronation Street Party in Sutton, from 12pm till 5pm. Vintage vehicle display. 

Picnic on The Green, Eltisley with bouncy castle, kids baking competition and kids colouring station.

Concert in the Park in St Neots. Live entertainment at Riverside Park, from 4pm till 7pm, plus fun fair and food and drink vendors.

Picnic on the Village Green in Brampton. Free strawberries and cream and celebration cake, with children's entertainment, music and face-painting. 

Royal River Pageant will leave Bailey Bridge at 2.30pm in Hemingford Abbots and finish at Regatta Field for an afternoon of music and food.  

Coronation celebration at the GER Sports Club, in March, food, followed by bingo and royal quiz. Tickets are £16 and children are £8. Call: 01354 652335.

Coronation Big Lunch at Bluntisham Village Hall. Barbecue, royal-themed crafts and cricket tournament. 

Street food and bars, local crafts, live music, kids entertainment, plus hot wings challenge at Buckden Towers, from midday to 6pm. 

Coronation Tea Party in The Offords, from 2pm till 5pm. Tea and cake, fun and festivities for all the family. Sing-a-long, royal quiz and crown making competition.

Senior Citizens' Afternoon Tea, from 2pm - 4pm at Ramsey Rural Museum.

Perry Parish Council and Perry Women’s Institute are holding a free event at the Grafham Water Centre, from midday till 4pm. Licensed bar, hot food, tea and cake, music, children’s treasure hunt and crown decorating competition, a royal quiz for everyone, boat trips (weather permitting) and much more.

Big Picnic event in Market Hill, St Ives, from midday till 5pm. Area will be decorated with yarn bombs from the Star Crafters’ team of Yarn Bombers. Centre piece of the event will be an eight-foot-high crown standing in front of the Oliver Cromwell statue. Free event for everyone to bring along a picnic and join in the fun. There will be tables and chairs for 300 people to sit at and eat their food. Activities and games as well as entertainment, including live music.

May 8:

Working parties will do various jobs around the village of Eltisley, including a litter pick, tidying up the bus shelter, churchyard, Pocket Park. Followed by a cream tea.

Party in the Park on the Millennium Sports Field in Somersham. Event will include five live bands, bar, food vans, and stalls. Free children's activities. Visitors invited to bring a picnic. 

Coronation Street Party and Big Lunch event in Church Lane, Hemingford Abbots, from 2pm-5pm. Invitation only. 

The Big Help Out Volunteer Day at 10am at Grafham Water. Plant a flower in the new King Charles Garden before its official opening at 11am. Volunteers offered a free round of miniature golf for themselves and three others.

Street Party in Ramsey, along the Great Whyte, from 11.30am - 3pm. Molly dancing, fancy dress and children's activities.

Big Help Out Tent at Royal Oak, Mill Green, Warboys, with coronation raffle draw at 3pm and then live music. Opens at midday.

Wentworth Village Fete with stalls, refreshments and games for all ages. Make a crown competition for children and lots of fantastic prizes to be won in the grand raffle. Visitors can bring a picnic and stroll around the village to see the Royal Scarecrows. All welcome.

The Big Help Out at Sudbury Meadow, Crosshall Road, Eaton Ford, St Neots, from 11am till 1pm. Meet the volunteers at Sudbury Meadow and see if you can help them. Volunteering limited to over-18s. Bring a picnic or just pop in to have a chat. Pedestrian entrance from Crosshall Road or Regatta Meadow. www.sudburymeadow.org.uk

The Littleport Society has an exhibition of fascinating old coronation memorabilia at the Barn, off Main Street, showcasing how Littleport celebrated Royal events in the past, from 10am-4pm. Light refreshments will be available.

And St George’s Church invites all to a general gardening and clearing up for the King’s ‘help and volunteer’ day.
