A new vegan and dog-friendly cafe called Oscar's is coming soon to the town of St Neots.

The owners of Oscar's, who named the cafe after their seven-year-old Yorkie Russell, are "super excited" to serve the town and welcome everyone's furry friends.

Holly and Mark Evans jumped at the opportunity to take on the lease for the old Griddle and Grind unit on the corner of the High Street and hope to open the cafe by the second week of March after renovations are completed.

Holly said: "There are a bit of nerves and excitement all at once really. It's a lot of emotions, but I'm super excited.

"At the moment, it's hard to imagine because it just looks like a building site in there!"

Holly, Mark, friends and family are working with contractors to change the previous design of the old restaurant by knocking down one of the walls to double the size of the seating area and adapting the layout of the bar.

Once work is complete, tables, chairs and wallpapers will go in and complement the "so many ideas" that they have prepared for the town to enjoy.

"I'm hoping non-vegans will like it too," said Holly.

"Over the years, I have tried lots of vegan recipes on friends and family, so I'm hoping everyone will love it. We're going to do our best to get everyone involved."

The cafe is the couple's first venture together, and they also hope to support small businesses in the area by selling gifts made by people in the town and selling lots of dog treats and 'Puppuccinos' for furry visitors.

A manager is in place for the cafe, with Mark continuing his work as a Farrier working behind the business.

Once the cafe has opened, Holly plans to trial wine tasting and cocktail evenings and utilise an ice cream bike in the summer to test and see what the town enjoys most.

Holly added: "Oscar can't wait to meet everybody's dogs!"
