This week we launch our There With You This Winter campaign which is aimed at supporting our communities through the tough winter months ahead.

The Hunts Post, the Ely Standard, the Wisbech Standard, the Cambs Times and Peterborough Matters have joined forces with Black Cat Radio to bring information, advice, support, practical help, and even some light-hearted moments, under one banner to make it easier for our readers and listeners, and also offer help.

Last winter, we were emerging from the pandemic, and things were incredibly difficult for families, but I don't think any of us could have predicted even higher fuel costs alongside a rise in almost every item and bill in our household and business budgets.

The cost-of-living has been increasing across the UK since early 2021. The annual rate of inflation reached 11.1 per cent in October 2022, a 41-year high, affecting the affordability of goods and services for households.

Over the next few months, we will signpost essential services and offer some practical advice to help everyone budget and save money.

We will talk to commentators from a broad spectrum of the community to find out what help is available, and we want people to make contact with us and let us know about the volunteer schemes and the good deeds being done in our communities.

We have already published some details about the warm spaces and hubs available in our towns and cities, but we will provide updates for readers and listeners.

Editor of Newquest's Cambridgeshire titles, Debbie Davies, said: "I can't imagine anyone out there is not feeling some pain as a result of the current financial situation we find ourselves in, and many will be really struggling to make ends meet.

"The pandemic was hard for businesses and individuals and this will feel like a double blow for many who were possibly just getting on their feet again, but we want to do what we can to reassure people that they are not alone and there is help out there.

"Just like we did in the pandemic, let's stick together and share information. Please make contact if you are part of a group or a charity offering help and support so we can publicise the details.
