HPupils from Abbots Ripton Primary School have got stuck in and helped to plant 112 mixed trees as part of the Queen's Green Canopy initiative.
Around 29 pupils from years three and four got to dig and plant trees on the Abbots Ripton Estate at the top of Rectory Lane on land "kindly" set aside by Lord De Ramsey.
Abbots Ripton Parish Council acquired the trees from the Woodland Trust to use for the Queen's Green Canopy project, giving people the opportunity to plant trees in memoriam to honour Her Majesty.
Parish councillor Steve Brown said: "We hope the children and all village residents will revisit in the years to come to see the progress towards a new copse of sturdy native trees."
Gavin Smith, head gardener from Abbots Ripton Hall, Lord and Lady De Ramsey and the planting party from the estate assisted the children in setting the new saplings on a successful day out.
