PETER HOWARD WILLIAMS Dr Peter Howard Williams, aged 73 years, of Yelling village, died on 9th July 2024, at Sue Ryder St John's Hospice, following a valiant 9 year battle with bowel cancer. He is survived by his four daughters, Angie, Tracey, Jess and Mel, his four grandchildren, Ella, Beth, Ember and Ethan, and his partner Yvonne. After growing up in the West Midlands with his parents and Gran, Peter was the first in his family to attend university, achieving a 1st Class Honours degree in Medicine from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge before completing his studies at Birmingham University. In 1979 he moved to Yelling and joined Eaton Socon Health Centre as a GP, where he worked serving the local community for more than 3 decades, becoming well-known locally as a family doctor. His enthusiasm for science remained with him throughout his life; he delighted in learning about the universe, and imparting his knowledge to others. His grandchildren have fond memories of him conducting science experiments which frequently involved setting fire to things! He made many friends over the years, enjoying numerous activities including swimming, skiing and - in particular - working out at the gym, where he remained a regular fixture in numerous classes despite his failing health. A service will be held in mid-August in his honour, with friends and family in attendance. For details of the service, please contact Peter's daughters via InMemoryOfPeter2024@gmail.com.
