VALERIE HICKMAN

Born on the 5th of May 1941, Val was a wonderful, gentle, loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother, who gave her love completely and unconditionally. She loved life, and eagerly shared her joy, her optimism, and her love of nature with her family and friends. And she kept giving right up to the end, bequeathing her body to the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience at Cambridge University, for research and teaching. Val died at home on 26th September 2022, her husband John was with her. She asked for donations in her name to be made out to Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust, to be used for research into helping to develop an understanding of brain tumours, ways to treat them, and to provide long term benefits for patients with brain tumours. She was a truly beautiful human being. So wonderful, so precious, so special, so loved, and so missed, she will live in our hearts forever.
